A first experience of dealing with death and reassessment of feelings about life
Death and taxes—the two things you can’t run away from. My meagre salary as a lowly intern keeps me well below the minimum taxable income, so I thought I’d consider the other eternal truth—death.
This is probably going to sound clichéd, but think about it—in a world where so much boils down to luck and circumstance, death really is the only certainty. The only thing anyone can guarantee you in your life is that it isn’t going to last forever.
And in a way, hospitals really are death’s home. When you spend as many hours in a hospital as an intern does, you get to witness death on a regular basis.
