A pint too far?

It was all the way back in January, the beginning of a new decade, a time when many people were re-examining their lifestyles, making resolutions, and generally recovering from the excesses of the festive season. And so I found it an interesting contrast, that at the same time that I read about the latest report from the parliamentary Health Select Committee, on alcohol, and the ongoing debates about the low cost of supermarket booze, I was also receiving emails from the student union at my medical school publicising £1 (€1; $1.60) tequila shots and their latest drinks deals to kick off the new term.
As medical students we are expected to uphold the values of the profession that we will one day join. I remember being told when I began my degree that gone were the days when I could take the chance of getting on a bus or train
