I applied to do natural sciences at Cambridge, but the day before my interview I saw that there was a similar course called medicine. I decided that a bit of anatomy might be more useful than studying protozoa, so I switched. After that, instead of staying on to do a doctoral degree, I went to train at Guy’s Hospital and never looked back.
The Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs is going to be very web based—our target audience is the general public. We’ll have reports and information and may well have a dialogue page so that people can ask questions. We’re working under the umbrella of a bigger charity called the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, but eventually we may spin off as an independent charity.
