Surgical rotations often place an emphasis on abdominal and pelvic computed tomography interpretation. However, interpretation by students is often poor, especially as the skill is rarely taught in medical school. Radiology 2.0: One Night in the ED is a useful educational app, although it is relatively undiscovered. The app features 65 surgical cases that are easy to browse. Selecting a case presents the reader with a fully scrollable computed tomogram and a clinical vignette.
After each case there is a comprehensive discussion that highlights important features of the tomogram from both a radiological and surgical perspective. The discussion points almost always provide links in the text to specific slices on the tomogram, which have relevant pathology highlighted. Concrete diagrams are also often included to further demonstrate pathology.
