Green prescribing—Patients are regularly warned about the dangers of sharing their prescribed medicines, yet a study from the NHS Sustainability Development Unit suggests this could be a way to increase NHS sustainability (http://bit.ly/Mz3PGW). The NHS is trying to reduce its carbon footprint of 20 million tonnes of CO2 per year by reissuing unused medicine. In a survey of 1000 people, more than half stated that they would be willing to accept unopened medicines that had been returned by a previous patient and checked for safety.
