Useful apps for surgical rotations: Visible Body
- By: Tom Lewis
Visible Body contains a fantastic combination of anatomical detail, clinical correlations, and novel approach to anatomy visualisation. Selecting a view and navigating through the menu is intuitive and simple; yet the real strength of the application is the 3D model. There is an excellent range of systems covering 270 different views spread over 11 systems and both sexes. Visible Body makes excellent use of multitouch gestures, which manipulate the model by zooming, rotating, and panning. This range of views makes up for the fact that there is no viewpoint of a complete 3D body. Structures can be highlighted and hidden; thus enabling the user to understand three-dimensional relationships between various anatomical structures. Detailed notes and definitions of each highlighted structure are also provided.
Most useful for: visualising complex structures and developing further understanding of 3D anatomical interactions.
