The perils of social media
What started out as a space for therapeutic venting among a small group of like minded medical registrars has blossomed into a page with almost 50 000 followers.1 We are the founders of “The Medical Registrar,” a Facebook page on which we vent our frustrations with our job.
We are the collected effort of eight contributors, male and female, from different medical specialties and of varying levels of seniority—all sharing the same “med reg” experiences that bond us together. Our primary aim is to amuse, with education and enlightenment accepted as bonuses. We strive for anonymity to avoid the accusation that we are compromising the confidentiality of patients or the reputation of trusts, but also because it grants us the freedom to say what we like.
We have posted on many issues, from our idiosyncratic plea for people to get the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine to a predictably popular post
