Medical schools have a responsibility to educate students

Isted’s article has helped banish the misconceptions that have driven many students towards smoking shisha.1 Clearly, more needs to be done to educate the general population about this topic. An important approach would be to encourage medical schools to teach their students about its harmful effects as students will be liable to try it if unaware of its dangers. Furthermore, these students will go on to become doctors, and, if well informed, they can warn about the use of shisha and give advice on smoking cessation when taking histories.
