It’s your last year of medical school. You may already have completed your exams and are looking forward to some solid clinical time, and some of you will be knuckling down, mapping out your revision timetables. Somewhere among all of this you need to sort out your career as a junior doctor after medical school. Applications for the UK foundation programme open in early October (6 October in 2014—mark it in your diary now), and everyone has to complete the online application usually within a two week period. If you fail to do so before the application window closes at 12 noon on deadline day (17 October in 2014), you will not be offered a place on next year’s foundation programme.

The United Kingdom Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO) is the centralised organisation
