The UK Foundation Programme Office (UKFPO) has announced that 7086 applicants (95.3%) to the 2015 foundation programme have been allocated to a foundation school. Just over 90% of applicants obtained a place at one of their top five schools, and 81% were allocated to one of their top two choices.
In January the UKFPO said that it had received 399 more applications than the number of places available for the 2015 foundation programme.1 After the allocations there are now 352 applicants on the reserve list pending allocation over the coming months. The figure has fallen because of applicants withdrawing from the process, the UKFPO said.
In 2014 the foundation programme was oversubscribed by 293 applications, and the last 118 applicants on the reserve list were awarded places by 26 June.2
