There’s both myth and reality to consider here. It’s certainly true that management consultancies recruit medical students into their graduate training schemes (as well as further on in their medical careers, in some instances). Leading management consultancies are looking for the brightest and the best from the graduate pool. As you need top A level grades to get into medical school and you have to be pretty conscientious to gain your medical degree, consultancies see medical graduates as both bright and hard working.
But there is an element of myth making too. Although it is true that a small number of medical students are recruited by management consultancies, it is also the case that students from many other professional disciplines are taken on by these companies.
