How I successfully reapplied to study medicine
A reapplicant shares his “plan B” story
In 2006, I was one of only two students in my sixth form to apply for medicine. We applied to various medical schools but neither of us received offers. So when we got our results in August 2007 we were both faced with the same decision: to beg and barter our way through UCAS clearing to find something else related to medicine or to reapply completely the following year.
Louise, my fellow applicant, chose the first option. She studied biomedical science then went on to study medicine in a graduate entry programme. She’s now a junior doctor in south Wales, and I think she’s quite happy.
