A to Z of medical school
Jayesh Doshi reflects on life at medical school
“A” is for anatomy. How can I forget the spine chilling moment when I was given the opportunity to open Paul's skull with the electric saw (Paul was the name given to our group's cadaver). After seeing Paul's ribs being dissected, I have always looked upon BBQ spare ribs with suspicion.
“B” is for bleep. During our obstetric and gynaecology rotation, we obtained a bleep for the first time. It made us revert to the mentality of 10 year olds - using it to keep each other informed of football scores on a Saturday afternoon!
“C” is for coffee. My consumption of this beverage has rocketed in the previous four years. I am convinced my serum caffeine levels are well above the normal reference range.
“D” is for dentists. Although their course is just as hard as ours, the ones I knew never seemed to have any work to do.
