International Health Electives for Medical Students

Are you looking for an elective? The American Medical Student Association hosts a resourceful site on international health electives at www.amsa.org/global/ih/intlintro.cfm (accessed 2 Apr 2003). The site is designed to help medical students in the United States find an international elective, but it contains a lot of information for non-US students as well.
The link gets you to a list of 54 countries from all across the world. For each country, the American Medical Student Association has listed the schools and hospitals that offer electives for international students. For each of these, there is a standard table layout with useful information that helps students identify which elective might suit their interest. The information given refers to the specialty, the setting (rural or urban), whether it is a hospital or clinic, the language requirements, and the preferred length of the elective.
