World Press Photo is a not for profit organisation, the main goal of which is to support and promote press photographers worldwide. To make ends meet, it organises many activities, which culminate in the annual travelling exhibition, spanning 40 countries.
As the name implies, only award winning photographs are displayed. Although divided into different categories according to the subject depicted, they all relate to issues, events, or situations considered of great journalistic importance during the previous year.
