BMA book competition winners

The winner of the student textbook category, Emery's Elements of Medical Genetics, is a book written for students of various disciplines who need some knowledge of medical genetics. It includes sections on the principles of human genetics, genetics in medicine, and genetics in clinical medicine. It covers everything that a medical student might be expected to know about genetics and probably a lot more. Because genetics is a rapidly changing specialty there is an appendix that contains lots of useful websites and databases so that you can stay up to date.
The book is written in language that makes the subject accessible, and it is well laid out, avoiding dauntingly long blocks of text. Almost every page has illustrations and tables.
