Student BMJ RSS Service

What is RSS

RSS is a way of keeping up to date with new website content. Many websites offer RSS and by subscribing to an RSS service (or feed) you will be notified whenever new content has been added to a website. It is a free service and all you will need do is download an RSS reader to allow you to view alerts. For more information on RSS please see our Guide to RSS

The studentbmj.com RSS service

We offer an aggregated service that takes content from a number of leading medical websites (see below for list) allowing you to be alerted whenever new content is added to any of these websites. You will get the headline plus a short description and a link to the article. Or you can be selective and choose only to be notified when new content in a particular topic area such as oral cancer or heart disease is added.

How to subscribe

The first thing to do is to choose an RSS Reader. Please see the Guide to RSS for information on RSS Readers and instructions on how to add an RSS feed to the Reader.

Having selected and downloaded your Reader, you are ready to subscribe to the studentbmj.com RSS service.

Please right click on the orange icon below and select the menu item "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" (or something similar depending on your browser). Alternatively, click on the link and then Highlight the URL displayed in the browser address bar and copy it.

Subscribe to RSS- The RSS Service

Once you have the shortcut or URL, add this to your RSS Reader as described in the Guide to RSS. You will now receive via your Reader a random selection of the latest items added to our chosen websites.

Personalising your feed

To produce a more customised feed, enter the topic area you are interested in the text box below and click on the Create your personal RSS feed button.

You will then see a page headed Feed Created with an RSS icon underneath. Copy the shortcut, or paste the URL into your RSS Reader. You will now be alerted via your Reader whenever new content on this topic area has been added to any of our chosen websites.

Advanced Personalisation
Add any of the modifiers below to the text box to improve the RSS feeds returned and make them more specific to what you require.
